Vino Intrepido

The Vino Intrepido project is an ever-evolving exploration into the potential for Italian grape varieties in Victoria. The approach is to work closely with honest and dedicated growers, selecting varieties based on their suitability to the region, and capture purity of fruit and site in the winery. I aim to pick grapes at optimum flavour ripeness whilst retaining freshness, preserve aromatics and flavour integrity, and incorporate winemaking techniques inspired by traditional Italian philosophies. In my 20-year wine career I have been privileged to work in several different roles in the industry, including sales for Italian wine importers, wine buying in retail, and marketing and hospitality. In 2012 I visited wine regions across Europe, learning and experiencing all I could, and my experiences in Italy unquestionably left a profound imprint on me. Vino Intrepido is about trying something new, being willing to make mistakes, but above all being bold and not taking the easy route.
